The week of Thanksgiving break, the Isbell students were challenged to read 30 minutes a day the entire break! We had 150 students complete this task! Each student received a gift certificate to Jack in the Box for free milk shake. Yummy! They also will have their name proudly displayed in the library windows. Isbell According to Humphrey!

Well it's official, the Isbell Library is now a proud owner of a teddy bear hamster. I have decided to name her "Humphrey" after the popular According to Humphrey book series. The kids absolutely love her and flock to her cage every time they are in the library! I have also used this a way to display books about hamsters, which only last 5 minutes! Since I have 5th grade helpers coming in everyday in the library to volunteer, they are the "official" hamster handlers (they also get to clean the cage, but probably don't know that part yet :) Humphrey has been a great addition to the library and it's fun to see how excited the kids get when they see her! Isn't she cute???

The Birthday Book Fairy!

At Isbell this year, parents have the option to donate money to the library in honor of their child's birthday. So far, Isbell has raised over $1,000 to spend on birthday books. Each book comes with a personalized label inside the book and the birthday kid gets to be the first one to check it out from the library! The "Birthday Book Fairy" aka (me-Mrs. Beathard) will deliver the book to the birthday kiddos on or close to their birthday. I've been having alot of fun delivering the books to the kiddos. The looks on their faces is priceless!! :)

There's more.........

Football season is here! Go Cowboys!

When students read a great book, they get to "TWEET" about their book by writing the book info on a bird. Then they will place the bird in the birdcage and the birds will be displayed on the bulletin board. 3 students will get chosen a month to do a book talk on their book tweet on the school announcements.

These books are out of this world...literally!

Who doesn't love the new song, Call Me Maybe? For this bulletin board, students can use  ipads/itouches to scan the QR codes to see the book trailers for these books of the month!

Books to hoot about!

Wild about books!
