The Ghosts of Tupelo Landing: Book Review

The Ghosts of Tupelo Landing
A 2015-2016 Texas Bluebonnet Nominee

I just finished reading The Ghosts of Tupelo Landing and absolutely loved it! It was definitely a page-turner that I couldn't put it down. I ended up finishing it in two days! This story takes place in a small town called Tupelo Landing and the main characters are Mo and Dale who run a "detective agency". The story is set around the selling of an old inn that is said to be haunted by a ghost. When Mo's parents purchase the inn with all of their hard earned cash the adventure begins. From renovating the inn to meeting a ghost named Nellie, this story is full of mystery and fun. If you love suspense with a touch of humor then this book is for you! I highly recommend it!

Michael Northrop's visit!

On Monday, Michael Northrop came to visit Isbell! The students loved learning about his life and his challenges as a reader when he was younger. He life story was very relate-able and something that the kids could connect with. In addition to learning about his life, we got to learn about his writing process and more about his new book Tombquest. The kids are super excited to get their hands on his books and some of them even visited him at his signing at Barnes and Noble. Check out the pictures below!

Library Art!

This year, students were invited to create artwork at home to be used to decorate the library walls. The only requirement is that the art work had a reading theme. So far we have received 6 pieces of art and they are a excellent addition to the Isbell Library! Check out the video below to see their masterpieces! I hope to see more added to the collection!

2014 Storytelling Festival!

Last Friday, our fourth graders went to Dr. Pepper Arena in Frisco to attend the Storytelling Frisco. The kids had a blast and were blown away by the student and professional storytellers. Before the festival began, music was playing in the background and when "What Does the Fox Say" came on, the kids went crazy! It was pretty entertaining to hear all of the 4th graders sing and dance, check out the video below!
